Volcanoes Generate Atmosphere, Oceans
Earth’s
early atmosphere is generated as volcanic eruptions release massive amounts of
gases. Some of these gases condense to fill the earliest oceans. Much later, as
life begins to evolve in the oceans, marine organisms produce oxygen.
